Trout of the Tundra - a Journey in Time
Nature and fishing documentary in co-production with SVT, YLE and NRK. This film was Martin Falklind’s big break as a TV journalist and angler. The Russian Kola Peninsula was at the time quite unknown to the public and was mainly associated with environmental degradation and nuclear submarines. The documentary showcased untouched nature with fresh waters that were full of large trout, graylings, char, pike. Fish so big that a Swedish angler could only dream of them. The film reminds the viewer of what our Swedish rivers and streams looked like before the hydro-electric power expansion. The book Tundra Trout followed in the wake of the film. The film won multiple awards.
